Investing in a website design can be a very intimidating
and overwhelming process for a new client.
It’s our job as the web developer to prepare you on how the process works, what tools we use, etc. What better way to do that than with a getting started page?
What We Need to Get Started
For many of you, this may be your first introduction to websites. If so, we are really starting from “scratch” – like a caveman starting a fire.
See if you can put together these items for us:
- Your Logo (in one of these formats if possible: PDF or high res JPEG
- Images or any new pictures you’d like to use for the new site
- Brand style guide, colors or any special graphics being used
- Complete the Website Questionaire and submit it to us if not already done
- If you currently have a website,
- the Hosting Login (hosting account and/or Cpanel login)
- the Website Login (if currently a WordPress site)
The Design & Development Process
Designing a website, no matter how big or small, is an extensive process that can be overwhelming. Here’s an outline of our process in 4 steps:
STEP 1 – LAYOUT AND DESIGN
A large and time consuming part of website design is in the layout, structure and design of the site. I’ll create the framework of the website and will send the homepage and a sub-page (or more upon request) for approval.
STEP 2 – DEVELOPMENT
Once the site layout and design is approved, I’ll move forward with the designing of all pages, functionality and responsive code, making sure your site looks great and functions nicely across all devices and web browsers.
Once the site is ready for final review, you’ll be able to review each page and we can make detailed edits until the site is revised completely.
STEP 4 – WHEN THE SITE IS READY TO GO LIVE
All unnecessary plugins, pages, images and backend files will be removed. The new site will be backed up and saved locally or in the cloud, should it ever need restored.
Once live, please allow 24-48 hours for propagation to occur to all devices. Some computers will need to be refreshed in order to see the new site, though most computers will see the new site immediately depending on the wifi connection.
Your website logins and all credentials will be sent to you if appropriate. Though your logins and passwords will be saved by us locally, PLEASE SAVE ALL LOGINS FOR YOUR RECORDS AS WELL.
Upon completion, you’ll receive a link to our “moving forward” page where you’ll receive tips and tricks on marketing your new website and also information on our Maintenance/Security Plan which we highly recommend for all of our clients.
Customization and Updates are negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Larger websites are welcome and priced individually.
Email Addresses: up to 2 included at no charge. Additional addresses – $2 per month + tax.
All prices are in advance and tax is added where appropriate.
Web design and consulting fees are due in three payments.
1/3 upfront to start project – before layout and design begins.
1/3 upon agreement of design and start of development, and
1/3 upon completion and delivery.
